Selling your Shared Ownership Homes: Resales
Selling your Shared Ownership home if you own less than 100 percent of your home is known as a ‘resale’ or assignment.
If you intend to sell your home, you must advise Origin Housing in writing and have your home valued by an independent surveyor from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Origin Housing’s sales and marketing team will help you through the process. There is an 8 week period during which Origin will market the property to their list of registered eligible applicants. If Origin sell the property, there will be an administration fee of, usually 1.5 percent of the share you are selling.
In the unlikely event the property is unsold after this 8 week period, you can then market the property privately on the open market. The buyer must either meet Origin Housing’s eligibility criteria before they can buy the property or if they don’t the full 100% share can be sold.
