Your Lease Explained
When you buy a Shared Ownership home you become a leaseholder.
Your lease is a legally binding contract between yourself and the landlord, usually Origin Housing, giving you the right to occupy your property for a set period of time. It’s crucial that you read and understand your lease, as anything that you, or your landlord, wish to do in relation to your property is governed by the conditions of your lease. Conditions might include restrictions of use, for example, you may not be allowed to sublet your property.
